GREENWOOD, Ind.--- The Bellarmine University men's indoor track and field team had a strong showing over the weekend in bringing home second place in the 2011 DePauw Indoor Classic as the Knights had won three races on the day.

Seth Sigler got things going in the 55 meter hurdles as he lowered his own school record, coming across with a time of 7.75.

The performance of the day for the Knights came in the 55 meter dash as Bellarmine took all three medal postions, William Saucer won with 6.54, followed by freshman Damar Williams at 6.59, and Juan Garrett at 6.60.

Bellarmine was successful in the field events as well as Elliot Mattingly easily won the weight throw with a distance of 17.13m, well ahead of second place at 15.96m. Mattingly's throw was just .1 meters off his own school record that he set in 2009.

In the pole vault, Bryan Gennett, last week's GLVC Field Athlete of the Week, won with a 4.70m. That height will put him tops in the event going into next week's GLVC Indoor Championship.

The Knights are peaking at the right moment heading into the GLVC Championships. Four Knights are ranked in the top eight in the conference in the 55 meter dash as well as Gennett being on top of the pole vault rankings and Robert Sandlin in the mile.

The GLVC Championship will be February 25-26 in Kenosha, Wisc. on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.
