On a breezy and cool fifty-nine degree morning, not to mention the morning of the Governor’s Cup football game between U of L and UK, over 650 athletes came to compete at Masterson State Park in Lexington, Kentucky for this years’ Henry Clay invitational. This years’ race was run on a new course due to the expansion of the dog park, which now cuts off parts of the old course, so a new course was made which most consider it as a harder course then years past. With many horses in the background, training for equestrian, the day began with elementary and middle school teams competing followed later in the morning towards afternoon by about twenty high school teams.
The girls’ middle school race was a particularly great one to watch where as over the distance of 4000 meters many girls stuck with others, which made for great finishes down the winding turn to the finish.
