Kick Of The Week: Eastern Relays 3200m Chase Down

The finals of the girls 3200m race at the Eastern Relays on Friday came down to a thrilling finish.

In the fastest heat of the race, the top two girls were separated by only one second.

Heading into the bell lap there were three girls in the mix: Beavercreek's (OH) Taylor EwertDuPont Manual's (KY) Kathleen Simms, and Louisville Male's (KY) Kaitlyn Lacy

With 300m to go, Ewert had fallen off the pace and it had become a two-girl race. Simms was putting in the pace work for most of the final lap and slowly opened a gap. She looked like she might be able to take home the win, but then Lacy turned on the jets in the final 100m and took the win at the line in 10:33.62.

Simms finished only one second behind in 10:34.52, while Ewert would hold off the pack for third in 10:38.41.
