Hopkinsville's McSwain Highlights Top 400m Returning Girls

The girls 400 meter dash has possibly the deepest top 10 of any event. The top returner Jakayla McSwain of Hopkinsville won the class AAA state title last year, but Kaleb McDonald of Jeffersontown got the best of her at the Wildcat Classic in January. Iaunia Pointer of Sacred Heart was third at the state meet is a formidable opponent to both of these ladies as well. The Wildcat Classic featured all three of these athletes with McDonald in first, Porter in second, and McSwain in fourth. The missing piece of that race was the third place finisher Waveney Brooks from Tates Creek. She finally broke 60 seconds after it being her goal since she was in middle school. My athlete to watch is McKenzie Bell of Spencer County who was the state runner up in class AA and is the top returner in that class. She has run a 58.55 this indoor season at the UK High School Invitational and was the top Kentucky finisher in that event.
