The Richard Montgomery sophomore Garrett Suhr nearly pulled off winning both the 1600 and 800 state titles for 4A as he went MD #1 4:21 to run away with the 1600 and appeared to have the 800 win locked up until Chase Osborne (1:58.01) of Northwest nipped him at the line for the narrowest of margins.
