Senior Sendoff: Ethan Henes - Louisville Collegiate

Athlete: Ethan Henes

School: Louisville Collegiate

What was your most memorable meet and why?

The 2017 State Cross Country meet because I finally medaled and got to share the stage with my friend and teammate Abshir Abdi.

Where did you face your biggest competition?

I'm planning on competing in the NXN Southeast Regional in North Carolina where I expect to face some very tough runners.

Out of all of your high school accomplishments which stands out the most and why?

Finally breaking 17 minutes in the 5K was a huge accomplishment for me because it had been a goal I had been striving for since sophomore year.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

I would have started running earlier and I would have ran indoor and outdoor track my freshman year.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

Getting over the pain while running race. Overcoming that mental barrier has allowed me to become a lot faster over the past few years.

What will you miss the most?

Morning runs with the team and running to Indiana and back from school.

Do you have any advice for younger athletes?

Listen to your coach and take good care of your body.

What are your post-highschool or college plans?

I plan on attending college but I'm not sure what I will study.

Who would you like to say thank you to?

My coach, Chris Snyder, for helping keep our running programs alive and for sticking with us through the good and bad times. I would also like to thank all the parents and teammates who have helped me get to where I am today. I couldn't have done it without them.
