KYtrackXC.com Athletes of the Week

In an effort to honor the top track and field performers from Kentucky, KYtrackXC.com will have a weekly set of Athletes of the Week.  There will be Middle School, High School, and College awardees.  Former Kentucky High School Track and Field athletes currently running in college are eligible for the College award, even if he or she attends a school out-of-state.

Girls 

Candice Taylor

Danville

Taylor, a junior at Danville, won the Long Jump at both meets she competed in this past week.  At the Danville All-Comers on Tuesday she hit a new personal best when she leaped 17-11.  On Friday she ran a 13.44 in the 100m Dash to win at the Pulaski County Invitational. 

 

Boys

Ryan Eaton

Greenwood

Greenwood, a junior at Greenwood, ran two personal best marks this week.  On Tuesday at the Warren City-County he won the 1600m and 3200m.  His time of 9:30.40 in the 3200m was a new best and the #1 time in Kentucky right now.  On Saturday at the Mobile Challenge of Champions he finished 3rd in the Invitational Mile with a new best time of 4:19.57.

Alex Bunch

Lincoln County Middle School

Bunch, an eighth grader at Lincoln County, won the 800m and 1600m at the Tates Creek Open Saturday.  Her time of 5:43.18 for the 1600m Run currently leads the state.  She ran a 2:37.43 in the 800m Run.

 

Boys

Grant Mahoney

Campbell County Middle School

Mahoney, an eighth grader at Campbell County Middle School, won the 400m Dash at the Tichenor Trojan Classic Wednesday with a new best time of 57.64.  He also placed 3rd in the Long Jump with a jump of 16-03.

 

College

 

Women

Mary Durham

University of Kentucky

Durham, a 2005 Owensboro graduate vaulted a new University of Kentucky Outdoor Record with a vault of 12-01.75 at the Florida Relays.  She placed 17th with that performance on Saturday.

 

Men

Aundreas Lopez

University of the Cumberlands

 

Lopez, a 2008 John Hardin graduate finished 2nd in the 800m Run at the Centre Invitational Saturday running a 1:56.37.  Two weeks ago at the 49er Classic he ran a new career best time of 1:54.38.
