Freshman Focus: Ella Gilson and Juliana Metz - Hawken School

Hawken's freshmen Ella Gilson and Juliana Metz made their presence known at the recent Legends Meet which took place at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds in Cortland.  

Ella Gilson was the 2nd freshman athlete to cross the line and she finished in 10th place overall with her time of 19:36.90.  Juliana Metz was not far behind, as she was the 3rd freshman and 15th overall finisher with her 19:45.20 result. 

This was the 2nd occasion this season that Gilson ran under the 20 minute standard and she currently resides in 26th place in the state rankings for freshmen due to her 19:24.90 effort at September's Centerville Saturday Night Lights meet.   

Juliana Metz has also had a successful cross country season to date, as she's run sub 20 minutes six times and under 19 minutes once.  Her PR of 18:53.20 which she produced at the Centerville Saturday Night Lights meet is the 12th best time in Ohio among 2021 grads this season.    

        

           Ella Gilson finished 10th in the small schools race at the Legends Meet. 


           Juliana Metz has four Top 10 results so far this season.
