KYtrackXC.com Athletes of the Week

 

In an effort to honor the top track and field performers from Kentucky, KYtrackXC.com will have a weekly set of Athletes of the Week.  There will be Middle School, High School, and College awardees.  Former Kentucky High School Track and Field athletes currently running in college are eligible for the College award, even if he or she attends a school out-of-state. 

 

High School

 

Boys

Ben MasonLafayette

 

Mason, a senior, won two events at the Wildcat Classic on Saturday.  He won the 400 Meter Dash in 49.98 and then won the 200 Meter Dash in 22.03 which broke the Wildcat Classic Meet Record.  Both winning times were personal best.  Mason has quickly established himself as one of the sprinters to watch during the 2009 Kentucky Track Season. 

 

Girls

Tiffany Rogers– Butler

 

Rogers, a senior, won the Wildcat Classic 60 Meter Dash for the third year in a row.  Her time of 7.72 broke the meet record which she has broken the last two years in a row.  Later on in the meet she won the 200 Meter Dash in 25.71, once again breaking another meet record.  Her performance in the 60 Meter Dash was a personal best.

Women

Shameka DialMurray State University

 

This Calloway County graduate threw a career best of 59-03 in the Weight Throw at the Gladstein Invitational to finish fourth overall.  This is currently the #1 ranked throw in the Ohio Valley Conference.  She also finished fifth in the Shot Put with a toss of 43-01.75.

 

Men

Brian SovernsWestern Kentucky University

 

This Grayson County graduate threw a career best of 59-01 in the Weight Throw at the Carle/Health Alliance Classic to finish fourth overall.  This is currently the #1 ranked throw in the Sun Belt Conference.  He also finished fifth in the Shot Put with a toss of 53-10.
