On day one of competition at the Real Deal Classic at the Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton, Virginia, a pair of hurdlers from the national powerhouse program Western Branch threw down incredible meet record breaking times to establish the initial US #1's of the year in the 55 meter hurdles.

Western Branch sophomore Shadajah Bullard broke not only the meet record in the girls 55 meter hurdles, but also set the school record which is a more impressive feat considering all the great hurdlers which have come of the Western Branch program. Her national leading time of 7.79 also ranks Virginia #5 all-time indoors and we are only into the first weekend of December!

The depth of the Western Branch hurdle crew was on display as well as they had six girls automatically qualify for the Virginia 6A State Indoor Meet in the 55 meter hurdles with their times in the prelims.

Meanwhile, her senior teammate Micaiah Harris, who has represented the United States the past two summers at the World Junior (2016) and World Youth (2015) Championships in the 200 and 100 respectively, showed off his athletic versatility in the hurdles at the Real Deal Classic. After breaking the meet record and setting a new PR without blocks in the prelims (meet only allowed blocks in the finals) with a 7.46 clocking, Harris went to another level in the finals with a swift US #1 time of 7.38 in 55 meter hurdles.

Many more US #1 and US top 10 performances came out of the Real Deal Classic along with additional race video coverage and results can be found HERE as part of our LIVE stream of the meet.
