Senior Sendoff: Cody Chism - Bishop Brossart

Athlete Name: Cody Chism

School: Bishop Brossart High School

What was your most memorable meet and why?

My most memorable meet has to be the State track meet freshman year. We won the 4x800 and I also ran in the 1600. This was a great experience as a freshman and I am glad that I got that opportunity.

Where did you face your biggest competition?

I faced my biggest competition at the Trinity/Valkyrie meet sophomore year. I was in the middle of a huge group of kids so I wasn't really racing. The best race I have ever raced in was the state cross-country meet junior year.

Out of all of your high school accomplishments which stands out the most and why?

For me, winning the state cross-country, indoor track, and outdoor track meets sophomore year. This was a huge accomplishment and took a total team effort.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

I would have ran cross-country sooner in my career, I didn't start running cross country until sophomore year and I think if I had started earlier it would have given me a better base

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

I think that my most difficult obstacle had to be the low mileage during cross country season. Since I played soccer and ran, I averaged about 15-20 miles a week.

What will you miss the most?

I will miss my team and coaches the most

Do you have any advice for younger athletes?

Always work your hardest and believe in yourself. Your mind can make your body do crazy things, so if you stay strong you can do  anything you set your mind to.

What are your post-highschool or college plans?

I will be continuing my running and academic career at Morehead State University. I plan to major in Biology.

Who would you like to say thank you to?

I would like to thank my parents for everything that they have done for me over my who high school career. I would also like to thank Coach Davis, Coach Martin, and Coach Braun for always supporting me and helping me become the best runner I can be.
