Athlete Name: Madison Malloy

What was your most memorable meet and why?
My most memorable meet has to be this past regional meet. My team lost a lot of good runners last year and we had a fairly young team coming into the season. At the beginning, my coach told our varsity team that we made a good jv team and I think that during that regional meet, we proved, not only him, but a lot of people wrong by winning and pulling together. Another memorable meet was the Bella Vista Bronco Invitational which I ran in California. That was a really cool experience.

Where did you face your biggest competition?

I think I faced my biggest competition in the Great American Invitational , NXR, and the State Meet.

Out of all of your high school accomplishments which stands out the most and why?

I think running state this year and not being injured this season have been the biggest accomplishments for me throughout my whole career. I have either been injured or have been recovering from an injury every xc season leading up to this year, so being able to make it through the season with zero complications was great for me. I have also always been on the brink of running state for a couple of years now so doing that this year was pretty cool.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

I wouldn't change anything. My high school running career has been everything I could've hoped for and I wouldn't change a thing. It has shaped me into the person I am today and saying that I want to change it would be similar saying that I want to change myself, and that isn't true.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

The most difficult obstacles I had to overcome were definitely all injuries that I had throughout the years.

What will you miss the most?

I am going to miss my team the most. They have been my sisters over the years and even though I love running, the girls on the team have really made this experience what it is. #boftb

Do you have any advice for younger athletes?

Believe in yourself. You can accomplish what ever you set your mind to. No dream is too big. If you can dream it you can do it, all you have to do is put in the work to make those dreams a reality. Also, don't ever give up.

What are your post-highschool or college plans?

I am a very indecisive person so I'm completely sure that I want to do. I'm going to have to wait to see where I get accepted and figure out all that financial stuff before I can make any serious commitments. So, right now, I taking my senior year day-by-day and soaking each day in while it's here.

Who would you like to say thank you to?

I would like to say thank you to Barry Haworth (aka BBtasia) for always believing in me, pushing me, and making me laugh.
