Jacob Thomson Breaks UKTF 5K Record

STANFORD, Calif. - Kentucky track and field's Jacob Thomson won his heat of the 5,000 meters at Stanford's Payton Jordan Invitational late Sunday night. 


He ran a new UK school record and personal best 13:43.49. The time broke Thomas Morgan's previous record of 13:45.57 recorded at Stanford in 2004.

Thomson's time leads the Southeastern Conference this season, and ranks No. 18 nationally.

Kentucky will host the Kentucky Relays on Saturday before the SEC Championships May 12-14.
