The Virginia Tech Invitational is one of the most storied and stacked meets each and every January. Over the decades of this meet there have been numerous all-star performances. Too many in fact to even list. Last year alone saw 443 National Elite performances. To ease your history search we have narrowed this list down to the top 10 most impressive and greatest performances all-time at this meet.

10. Albemarle Boys 4x800 Goes 7:49.88 (2009)

This quartet was truly something special they would go on to set both the indoor and outdoor national records and even win the prestigious Penn Relays Championship of America that year. They ultimately ran 7:36.99 at Nationals and truly raised the bar high enough that the record should stand for quite some years. This race though would rank 9th all-time. It still stands though as the 11th fastest time ever for our state and the third fastest time ever run in the actual state of Virginia, behind their own AAA state performance and Westfeild's 2004 AAA state performance.

Late that Friday night in 2009 it was a showdown. It was supposed to be a headline battle between New Bern and Albemarle but Albemarle was just too strong and blew the race open in the first couple laps and went to work against the clock.
