Lafayette Grad Tyson Gay Wins USA Nationals, Austin Hayes 8th in USA Junior 100m Dash

Lafayette Product Tyson Gay won USA Nationals last night in the 100m Dash in 9.87 seconds. He ran a 9.79 in the semi-finals for his fastest time of the weekend. He still holds the American Record in the 100m Dash from 2009 when he popped off a 9.69.

Former Ballard sprinter Ronnie Baker was in the same race finishing 7th overall with a 10.19 after running a 9.94 in the semi-final.

South Laurel senior Austin Hayes finished 8th overall in the USA Junior National Championship with a 10.67. He ran a PR of 10.61 in the prelims to advance to the final. Junior Nationals has both College Frosh and HS athletes in it.
