Jacob Thomson is UK Bound, Announces Transfer from NC State

Former Holy Cross Star Jacob Thomson is transferring to UK. He has been a member of the XC/Track teams at North Carolina State University the last two years. He is coming off a trip to the NCAA D1 Outdoor Championship in May. after qualifing in the 5000 Meter Run. He finished 11th at the NCAA East Regional to qualify. His freshman year he was the 5th man on NC State NCAA XC Championship qualifying team.

He finished 3rd in the 5000 Meter Run this past May at the ACC Outdoor Championship. He ran new PRs in the 5000 and 10,000 Meter Run as well this spring going 13:52.71 and 29:35.61.

When asked why he choose the University of Kentucky, Thomson told KYtrackXC.com "I choose to come to UK because I take great pride in representing my State. I believe Kentucky will provide new challenges and motivation as I take the next step in my career. I can’t wait to help build the program and continue to make Kentucky relevant throughout the NCAA. Coach Floreal and Coach Graham have done a great job building a strong foundation for the program and I look forward to joining them."

While in high school Jacob set Kentucky State Track Meet records in the 1600m and 3200m Runs. He owns the All-Time #1 mark in Kentucky Outdoor history in the 1600m Run (4:05.55) and #2 in the 3200m Run (8:48.73). He also ran a 8:54.88 Two Mile Run Indoors which is #1 All-Time.

He will have three years of eligibility left in Cross Country, Indoor, and Outdoor Track at the University of Kentucky.
