Jackson Cooper & Jordan Carrington Lead Morehead State Signing Class of 10

MOREHEAD, Ky. The Morehead State cross country and track and field programs have added 10 students-athletes for the 2015-16 seasons.

For the men, Brandon Atkinson (Barboursville, W.Va.), Jordan Carrington (Somerset, Ky.), Jackson Cooper (Elizabethtown, Ky.), Justin Moakler (Brampton, Ontario) and Shane Rigsby (Garradstown, W.Va.) have signed National Letters of Intent.

The women's program has inked Lauren Best (Milford, Ohio), Tess Burns (West Union, Ohio), Gloria Corona-Luna (Fairfield, Ohio), Mya Faris (McArthur, Ohio) and Kansas Greenwell (Morrow, Ohio) to NLIs.

"We feel like we have signed a talented class," Head Coach Stephen Picucci said. "We look forward to having these student-athletes join our program, strive to improve their performances and help our teams achieve their goals."

Atkinson prepped at Cabell Midland High School where he was tabbed all-state, all-region and all-conference in cross country. He finished second at the regional cross country championship in 2014. His top 5K time was 16:28.47, while he ran a 2:08.31 800-meter run.

Carrington, who attended Southwestern High School, qualified for the state championship in cross country and track. He was named all-region. Carrington turned in a top 5K time of 16:34.95 in 2014 and ran the 800-meter race in 2:13.12.

Cooper was a member of the Central Hardin High School running teams. He won the conference and regional cross country titles in 2014 and was named all-state. He was also chosen all-region in track. His top 5K time was 16:00.89. His best 3,200-meter time was clocked at 9:57.28.

Moakler, who went to Brampton Centennial High School, is a nine-time regional champion and five-time regional runner-up in cross country and track. He qualified for the provincial meet every season and also qualified for Team Ontario. He finished seventh in a pair of events at the 2011 Youth National Championship.

Rigsby attended Musselman High School where he was crowned regional champion in cross country and track. He also won the country championship in both sports and was named all-state in cross country. He was a Footlocker All-South Cross Country selection.

Best prepped at Milford High School where she earned all-conference accolades in cross country. She ran a season-best 22:11 in the 5K in 2014.

Burns is a product of Manchester High School where she was the conference champion in the 800-meter run and the district champion in the 400-meter event. Burns was named all-conference and all-district in cross country and track. She has run a 27:47.20 in the 5K.

Corona-Luna attended Lakota West High School where she was selected to the all-district cross country squad. Her top time in the 5K was clocked at 19:01.40, and she ran the 800-meter race in 2:30.73.

Faris was an all-district and all-conference runner at Vinton County High School. She was the conference runner-up in the 800-meter event and qualified for the regional meet in cross country and track. She has recorded a 5K time of 20:02.70 and 2:27 in the 800-meter race.

Greenwell attended Purcell-Marian High School where she claimed a district title on the track and on the cross country course. Greenwell was named all-district and all-region.
