BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Dezerea Bryant was named Southeastern Conference Co-Runner of the Week on Tuesday after she posted a world-leading 200-meter time in addition to a head-turning 60M dash performance at the Kentucky Invitational last weekend.
Bryant won both her races on Saturday at the Kentucky Invitational, highlighted by a world-leading 200M time of 23.12, and the second fastest 60M time in the world this year.
Her 60M performance was a then-world-leading 7.18, which is now ranked second in the world, as she trails only Oregon's Jasmine Todd.
Todd and Bryant could take part in a short sprinters heavyweight showdown on Saturday at the McCravy Memorial as the 60M field could include six of the top10 performers in the nation this year.
Bryant also owns the world's fastest 300M time this year, as she ran 36.70 in December at the Hoosier Open, which is the fourth fastest collegiate time ever in that event.
LSU's Morgan Schuetz, who ran NCAA-leading times in the 800M and distance medley relay, was the SEC Co-Runner of the Week.
Bryant has been named SEC Runner of the Week three times in her career.
Kentucky will host the nation's most elite regular-season meet this weekend, the Rod McCravy Memorial.
The McCravy meet's women's field features each of the top seven ranked teams in the nation, including sixth-ranked UK, and nine of the top 25. Eight of the NCAA top-25 men's teams in the nation will be on hand.
