Top high school cross country runners from more than fifteen states will compete in the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships (FLCCC) South Regional on Nov. 29 in hopes of becoming a National Finalist.
Entering its 36th year, the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships is the longest running high school cross country race in the nation, comprised of four regional 5K races across the country. The Midwest (Kenosha, Wis.) and Northeast (Bronx, N.Y.) regional races will also be held on Nov. 29. The West Regional (Walnut, Calif.) race will be held on Saturday, Dec. 6. More than 10,000 of the nation’s leading high school runners are expected to compete in the regional meets.
The top ten finishers from each seeded regional race qualify for the Foot Locker Cross Country National Finals (Dec. 13 in San Diego, Calif.) and will join the likes of Olympian Ryan Hall and American record-holder, Alan Webb.
The South Region, consisting of athletes from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, U.S. Virgin Islands and U.S. citizens in Overseas Military Installations, will race along the 5,000-meter mixed terrain course at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, N.C. on Saturday, Nov. 29. All non-high school runners are encouraged to participate in the “14 and under” races or the open race. Runners can register online at www.footlockercc.com.
