The team aspect of this race is wide open.  It could be Collegiate, Presentation, Holy Cross, or Green County.  The craziest part is that all should be really close in the final score.  Flip a coin to wait and see what happens.

The individual race brings in #1 Caroline Gosser (Presentation) with regional rival Karly Gawarecki (Holy Cross) chasing.  Gosser rolled a 17:50 in early October and then won Lexington Catholic beating Gawarecki by 37 seconds.  This race is just a small bump in the road toward state next week for both.

Boys

Defending State Champion Matt Bode (Collegiate) will swim around the course for the win with Green County establishing a pack up front to chase.  Troxell, Judd, and Wright should score big up front easily giving Green County the win.

Girls

The elusive Gabby Karas is the obvious favorite with only one 5K under her belt this year.  Karas ran a 18:27 to crush the KTCCCA Meet of Champions last week and will be on her home course Saturday at regionals.  She should cruise through this one in preperation for her 4th straight XC Kentucky State title.

The team race will be a battle between North Oldham and Christian Academy up front.  The teams have strength up front  and will fill the Top 10 together.  The real fight will be at #5 where North Oldham looks to have the advantage.

Boys

North Oldham, the multi-time defending State XC Champions will win Saturday, the only question is by how much.  They have the best runner in the region and one of the best in the state in Trenton Fryman.  They should have all seven runners in the Top 15.  David Jacobs (Shelby County) and Jacob Hershberger (Collins) will try and break up their hold on all the top spots.

Two of the best frosh in the state will battle for the 1st time in what should be the next four regionals.  Manual's Alena Sapienza-Wright and Kaitlyn Lacy of Male will scorch the course at Tom Sawyer Park in a battle of public school supremacy.  ASW is coming off a victory at the JCPS Championship where she ran a new PR of 18:13 beating Lacy by 13 seconds on this same course.

The team battle should be all Manual with Male, Meade County, and Bullitt East battling for second.  Manual will rely on a trio of ASW, Emma Kuntz, and Jordan Grantz up front.

Boys

St. Xavier will look to continue their dominance over this region.  They have #1 Spencer Hayden going for the win and then a load of runners that will fill up the Top 12 in the race.  The order the team finishes is one thing they have yet to establish this year, so that is a toss-up.  Manual's Darius Payne will try to go after Hayden for the individual win as well.

Girls

This will be the race of the day in Kentucky if the teams run hard.  This region is loaded with many of the best teams and runners in the state including Sacred Heart's Kathleen Simms, Mercy's Briann Wolken, and Assumption's Sarah Crawford just to name a few.  With this race at Tom Sawyer and if the girls go after it hard, this could be a sub 18 winner.  Sacred Heart will look to win the team battle with Assumption right on their heels.

Boys

Call this the battle of the pairs.  Cole Dowdy/Tanner Dowdy of South Oldham up against Evan Lang/Vince Turner of Trinity.  Cole is coming off a win at Lexington Catholic and looks to be the favorite to win the region.  The time should be smoking fast either way.

Trinity will have green all over the front in their hunt for the win.  The battle at second should be a good one between South Oldham and a young Eastern squad.  The entire region is lacking in seniors, so watch out for these squads next year.
