Former Daviess County Coach Tony Rowe Named Head Coach at Kentucky Wesleyan

OWENSBORO, Ky. (May 1, 2014) — Six-time Kentucky Cross Country and Track High School Coach of the Year Tony Rowe has been named head men’s and women’s cross country and track and field coach at Kentucky Wesleyan College, as announced by KWC director of athletics Jim Askins.

Rowe, 58, will retire after 37 years as the head boys cross country and track and field coach at Daviess County High School in June. He has won a total of 10 state titles in cross country (8) and track (2) while finished runner-up 12 times in cross country (9) and track (3).

His student-athletes have captured eight individual state championships in cross country and numerous individuals and relay state track and field titles in 400m dash, 1600m run, 3200m run, 100m high hurdles, 4x400m relay, 4x800m  relay, long jump, shot put, discus and pole vault. 

The 2001 Kentucky Track and Cross Country Coaches Association Hall of Fame inductee also has been twice named Boys Cross Country National Coach of the Year in 2004 and 2009.
