LEXINGTON, Ky. – Eleven Kentucky track and field Wildcats earned United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic honors for the 2013 indoor and outdoor seasons.
The Wildcat women’s team also picked up All-Academic accolades as a squad having accumulated 3.2 grade point average. Teams needed a GPA more than 3.0 to qualify for the distinction.
Seven women – Michelle Canterna, Cally Macumber, Julie Nunn, Chelsea Oswald, Allison Peare, Shiara Robinson and Angelica Whaley – and four men – Raymond Dykstra, Adam Kahleifeh, Luis Orta and Mackay Wilson – were honored for their successes athletically and academically.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and met pre-determined USTFCCC standards.
For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA performance list provided by TFRRS.org. For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
A total of 710 women from 187 institutions and 448 men from 149 institutions earned USTFCCCA All-Academic distinction for their combined efforts in competition and in the classroom. 187 women’s programs and 111 men’s squads earned team distinction as well.
The Kentucky women were one of 10 Southeastern Conference teams to earn All-Academic accolades.
Macumber, Oswald and Peare picked up USTFCCCA cross country honors in the fall.
