Lafayette sophomore Landon Young has committed to play football and throw for the University of Kentucky in 2016. Young was 2nd in Class AAA in the Discus this past May as a freshman. He threw a distance of 161. He was also 4th in the Shot Put with a toss of 51-01.75. He left middle school with both throwing events overall state records.
This early commitment is abnormal in track, but in the world of football this fits. The 6'7 Young has significant football talents as an linemen (probably Offensive Tackle.) Just to stay busy he was a state runner-up in his weight division in wrestling this past winter.
The football coaching staff at UK has agreed to Young throwing for the track team as well at UK.
